Course structure :

Much of the emphasis of the course is on experiential learning under close observation. This is done by participating from the start of the course in practical teaching by taking or participating in at least one Beginner’s class on a weekly basis throughout the training. The classes are pre - planned in the ‘Inner Journey’s’ Beginner’s Expanded Yoga Programme. This is a detailed and structured week by week programme that all Beginner’s classes follow. The second year of training therefore follows the same teaching programme and allows the student to become familiar with the structure and develop confidence in their teaching material and skills. The student is not required to design the class structure until participating in Intermediate level diploma training.

The student’s own 2½ hour yoga class is a required part of the training and during the first year. apart from the monthly meetings and this weekly class, regular tutorials are required as foundational support to the requirements of teaching the Beginner’s classes, preparation for the coming classes to be taught, and discussion and assessment of those completed.

The first term of the course requires minimal written study as the emphasis is on developing confidence and familiarity with teaching skills. From the second term on however, the written requirements start to become more challenging and as well as the practical work there is a fairly demanding programme of written studies and assignments . Both the practical and written areas are designed to develop the skills, abilities and knowledge of the trainee to the greatest possible advantage whilst continuing to expand and develop them on and individual and personal level.

This course is not only about being able to teach but is fundamental to the students personal journey.
